Admission to the Special Education Major
- Application to the Special Education major is competitive based on several factors. These include:
- The student's current GPA
- The number of credit hours completed by the end of fall semester
- Completion of the Special Education Requirements
- The student's career goals and experiences
- Applications are due by October 1
- Online application
Minimum Requirements
- English
- ENGL 1010 with a grade of C+ or better OR
- ENGL ACT score of 21 or higher OR
- AP ENGLISH score of 3 or higher.
- Math
- STAT 1040 with a grade of C or better (MATH 1050 will also be accepted but Statistics is preferred) OR
- MATH ACT of 25 or higher OR
- AP Calculus score of 3 or higher.
- American Institutions
- USU 1300 (or equivalent American Institutions Course) with a grade of C or better OR
- READING ACT score of 21 or higher OR
- AP US History score of 3 or higher.
- Science
- Both an approved life science and an approved physical science class with grades of C or better OR
- SCIENCE ACT score of 21 or higher OR
- approved AP credit in both physical science and life science.
- FHD 1500 with a grade of C or higher.
- Successful completion of the Computer and Information Literacy Exam
- Successful completion of the College of Education Writing Exam
- A speech and hearing screening.
- Successful completion of the
SPED Math Test
- Completion of 40 semester credit hours by the end of that fall semester.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
