Whether it's working in the ASSERT Preschool, the National Clearinghouse of Rehabilitation Training Materials or on a project with the Center for Persons with Disabilities, at Utah State you will engage in research, teaching, and supervision which has far-reaching effects. The program builds upon an interdisciplinary foundation of high quality programs in the five specialization areas.
The Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation offers a broad array of undergraduate and masters level professional preparation programs. These programs offer opportunities for doctoral students to observe and engage in college teaching, supervision, and program design. The programs cover a range of specializations within special education and rehabilitation. They utilize numerous delivery modes including traditional on-campus (face-to-face) instruction and supervision, two-way audio-video communication at a distance, web-based instruction, and hybrid combinations of delivery modes.
The Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation includes numerous projects that provide excellent opportunities for doctoral students to gain hands-on experience with research, product development, professional training, consulting, and direct services.
ASSERT Autism Support Services, Education, Research and Training
The ASSERT program at Utah State University provides research-based support to individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), their families, teachers and other professionals who work with individuals with ASD.
NCRTM National Clearinghouse of Rehabilitation Training Materials
The NCRTM serves the profession of Vocational Rehabilitation as a centralized resource for the development, collection, dissemination, and utilization of training materials; as a forum for advancing knowledge through applied research and open dialog; and as a marketplace for career and staff development.
NRCPARA National Resource Center for Paraprofessionals
The NRCPARA addresses policy questions and other needs of the field, provides technical assistance and shares information that will enable administrators and staff-developers to improve the recruitment, deployment, supervision, and career development of paraprofessionals.
SPIES Strategies for Preschool Intervention in Everyday Settings
The SPIES Outreach Project disseminates a validated curriculum used to help adults to teach young children in the context of daily routines wherever they happen - in homes, preschools, child care settings, and in the community.
